Washroom faucets are used in the bathroom. They include the bathroom sink faucets and lavatory faucets. These two can at times be used interchangeably but not always. It is wise to use the right tap for its specific purpose for maximum efficiency. Some of these taps are so different that it is impossible to use them interchangeably unless the person using them has no knowledge of what they are or their uses.

    Differences

Sink faucets are used in bathroom sinks for washing hands. Most of them are either deck-mounted or wall mounted. They can have a single handle or two handles either as a 4-inch center set or as a widespread 8-inch set. Lavatory faucet is found in toilets. They include the flushing systems, bidets, shaffers, sprayers and toilet sink taps. Toilet sink taps can be used in bathrooms. The other toilet faucets are used and installed differently, which makes them unusable in the bathroom. Flushing systems, for example, are wall mounted with water being stored in the cistern and released by pulling a lever instead of taps as used in toilet or bathroom sinks.

    Similarities

With both systems, water from the faucets pours into a container as it flows out. This makes it important to choose a sink or a toilet bowl which is made for the particular faucet. Small bowls will lead to splashing or overflowing of water.

    Maintenance.

Washroom faucets require high hygiene practices, which is the main reason why they are mostly made in chrome, which is visually appealing, long lasting and can be cleaned regularly without ruining its appearance. The accompanying sink should also be easy to clean and durable since they are frequently used and cleaned, especially in public places.

    Placement.

Toilet faucets are placed at the furthest wall while bathroom sink taps and toilet sink taps are located close to the door. This is a functional setup because washing hands is done often with or without using other washroom facilities. When choosing a washroom faucet, remember the demographic structure of the people it will serve. If it serves children, it needs to be within their reach and simple enough for them to use like a single handle tap.

    Developments

Trends are bringing up better looking and more functional washroom faucets. There are new designs which are made from materials which were not used before, such as glass. Washroom taps are being made in beautiful designs and used as both functional and decorative features. Infrared beams are also used to trigger automatic flow of water, which is more hygienic. Finally, portable sinks and sink taps are being made to cater for outdoor functions.
